SiC's high critical field strength, high carrier saturation velocity, and high thermal conductivity enable the miniaturization and lightweight development of traction conversion systems, which is essential for meeting the green and energy-saving requirements of rail vehicle operations. Rail sectors, while starting from smaller bases, showed CAGRs of 12.9% from 2020 to 2024 and followed by 29.1% from 2025 to 2029. Starting from 16.7% in 2024, the penetration rate is projected to reach 31.8% by 2029, attributed to the advantages that SiC power semiconductor devices could offer in terms of high-temperature tolerance and high-frequency switching capabilities.
